D. Ramirez Mixmag Feature -
Coming To America

The silver fox of electro-techno spent the summer touring the US. Mixmag featured what happened when D. Ramirez went stateside.

From the trials and tribulations of LA, renting Adam Freelands house and a chance lunch with Thomas Schumacher - catch up on a month with D. Ramirez in America and Brazil.

For the full unedited story D. Ramirez created a tour blog, rather than only document his gigs, he has provided an inside look on what life is like for a touring DJ.

D. Ramirez - Satur8

D.Ramirez’s muscular, electronic take on house music is back with a vengeance with new single “Satur8” proving that the next D.Ramirez release is always worth the wait.

With an autumn schedule that sees remixes of Skunk Anansi, a collaboration with Underworld and an enviable gig-list it’s with his own Slave Recordings that the true gold can be found.

“Satur8” is big room, riffy and of course dripping with the sort of production trickery that defines the D.Ramirez sound, but is simple in its approach and massively effective for it. The stripped back drum track provides groove while it’s the massive, old school key progression riff and ethereal vocal washes that provide the frankly massive hooks which have been igniting floors throughout the summer.

Jamie Stevens of Infusion, a favourite of Ramirez, has been drafted in on the remix and typically for the studio workaholic, has delivered three outstanding re-rubs. Fresh from tackling remix duties of Bookashade on Get Physical, he’s in superb form and mixes are hard to choose between in terms of quality. The tech dub is electronic-dub inflected house which literally fills the room with heavy, bass driven sound before a massively detuned synth warbles one of the most disctinctive lead lines you’re likely to hear.

This is vintage D.Ramirez, and the beginning of a few months of D.Ramirez gold….
