Hi All,

I think is probably aimed mostly at Dean and Mr Admin8, but would a thread/sub-forum advertising DJ sets, gigs, i.e. possible warm-ups be a good idea?

Obviously I know people often have an endless list of names they can call to get people for nights they're organising, but I also appreciate that event organisers want to find new talent and fresh names for their nights.

I've co-run various nights in Bath for the last four years and had great success getting up and coming people from Bournemouth, Oxford, London etc here.

Im now moving to Oxford till Sept then back to London for the continuing future, Im hoping to get back in the club scene when in London and would happily post for people to send demos and a blurb to see if they could do a warm up set...

Annnnyywhhooo, basically what I'm getting at is if we could have a thread/sub-forum for people to post details of a gig with an hour warm-up set or something going and what they'd like (previous plays, demo etc) in return? We could start an excellent exchange of what seems to be (atm), quality talent!

Theres a quick poll above for other members to save you writing a reply if you dont want to; else any feedback would be awesome.

Peace.

p.s. Dont judge me on our SoundCloud lol, our new mix is coming soon :)

hay james, great idea - i see no problem with this - as the potential dj can upload a soundloud file into the dj showcase forum and direct you there -

lets see what the other forum members have to say!

Yeah I wanna get back into DJ'ing again after considerable absence so picking up some warm up slots would be ideal.

Exactly the same for me. I would like to start again but locally in Essex the music policy is shocking! so I'm biding my time. You can only play vocals or well known tunes..zzzz. Get with it Essex!

I think this is a great idea though.

Mr Admin8 (a.k.a Kristoph?) - looks like a positive outcome with 8 to zero in the vote!

Do you want to let it run longer or can we set up the forum now?

Im sure it will start slow, but eventually could lead to some awesome nights and maybe even a Ramirez forum hosted room somwhere someday?

Thanks

Just to clear up, admin8 and me are not one and the same! I think it's a good idea though - my only worry is having too many forums, overcomplicating the site for new users...

Ah sorry! Confusion.com with whom mr Admin8 is!

I agree with too many forums, however I think anything up to 15 if well categorised as they are at the moment shouldn't be a problem?

This idea would certainly be very specific so not to confuse any newbies..

it would be helpful if the new forum thread could house a few other things, otherwise it will just be one post from james - so we need to decide what to call it?

i could start a sub-forum within DJ showcase or DJ talk?

How about "DJ Opportunities" or "A DJ needs you" subforum under the showcase sounds good?

hay james -

your wish has been granted - I have started the forum as a child of the "DJ Showcase Forum"
