Is this legit? Seems a bit strange to get this kinda message from a message board.

Yeah? I clicked on the link and as soon as that little pop-up saying something like....."Your computer is infected!" message popped right up, I immediately closed the windows. How would it already know I'm infected, right?? I'm doin a full blown virus scan now with software I trust, tbh I was slacking on doin this any how!

hi there

yes it seems that this has happened before - if you take a look at this post.

http://www.dramirez.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=367

what was the name of the user that sent you the private message?

i am looking into a way of restricting that kind of spamming. I know on some other boards they have a system in which you can only send PMs if you have X amount of posts. Allot of spammers find a way around that though.

We could explicitly turn PM off?

As always, the message is the same as it would be for your personal e-mails: Don't click on links or attachments from someone you don't know. Even if it's someone you DO know, think twice about it if you weren't expecting the message.

Yeah, I'd just woken up and was not thinking right to click it! DOH! I nor, ally a lot more hesitant to click anything like that.

The user was: JoshuaEvanss

I'd agree that first choice would be to try (like you said) finding a system to at least keep the spamming to an absolute minimum, if that doesn't slow em down enough perhaps then diisable the pm's.

Well, hopefully that link wasn't malicious, and hopefully not too many people got that message.
